Mr Waller was helping me but I lost the thread access. I will start over. I have Adobe CS5 Photoshop. I purchased hard copy CS6 photoshop upgrade from Adobe.  It says "Adobe Photoshop CS6" on the front of the box. My concern before opening is the sticker on the side of the box that says "Upgrade from Adobe Creative Suite 5" The sticker has a whole bunch of other smaller wording but too much to type. Is this a legit upgrade for a stand alone version of photoshop??

Previous thread is here http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1159401

My reply below copied from that earlier thread and pasted below:

I assume you're trying to upgrade from Photoshop CS5 standalone to a CS6 Creative Suite (which one?).

Unfortunately Photoshop CS5 standalone is not eligible to upgrade to a CS6 Suite.

That's a change in upgrade policy by Adobe starting with CS6.

http://forums.adobe.com/message/4369220

Note: some of the wording below (which is current) has been changed by Adobe since the forum post above was posted. The policy remains the same though.

From the CS6 FAQ

http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/faq.html

What is Adobe's upgrade policy for Creative Suite 6?

Owners of a CS5 or CS5.5 suite edition qualify for upgrade pricing to a CS6 suite edition. Owners of an individual CS5 or CS5.5 product qualify for upgrade pricing to the same product but not to a suite edition. Any version earlier than CS5 will not be eligible for upgrade pricing.

Your options now:

  • Upgrade Photoshop CS5 to Photoshop CS6 for the upgrade price
  • Pay full price for a CS6 Creative Suite
  • Join the Adobe Cloud and pay a monthly fee

Let's start again. I'm getting mixed messages from your original post.

You own Photoshop CS5 standalone.

Have you purchased

a) a standalone upgrade to Photoshop CS6

or

b) an upgrade to a CS6 Creative Suite

I know it was confusing. sorry dude.

I own CS5 stand alone.

I purchased what I THINK is a stand alone upgrade for adobe CS6.

I am confused by the sticker on the side of the box.

An upgrade for:

a) Photoshop CS6 standalone? - If so, that will work OK for Photoshop CS5 standalone

or

b) Creative Suite CS6? - If so, that will not work

Forgetting about the sticker on the side, what's the product description on the front of the box?
