I hope someone can help me. I have tried numerous times to download the latest version of Adobe flash player without success. Every time I get an error message that says "The user does not have sufficient priveleges to install Adobe flash player". There are no earlier versions of flash player loaded onto my computer, and I even temporarily disabled my internet security. What do I do now? This is a stand alone home computer, desktop model.

Can you please verify that you are using an administrator level account on Windows?

No, I was not using an administrator level account on Windows. My computer came with Windows Vista 7 already loaded on it and I never set up an administrator account.

You'll need to change your account to an admin level, then try installing again.

I appreciate the advice Chris, but you are talking to a 60+ year old technological dinosaur here, and I have no idea how to change my account to an admin level. I'm sure it is probably pretty straight forward, but I have no idea where to begin. Any further advice you can provide would be most appreciated. Thanks....

This page looks pretty straight forward.

I know it says Windows 7, but it should be the same instructions for Vista.
Hope this helps,
Chris

Well I went to the website referenced in your response above, follwed the instructions, created an administrator account with a password, temporarily disabled my Trend Micro internet security (again), then tried again to download the Adobe flash player, and I get the same error message: "The user does not have sufficient priveleges to install Adobe flash player". Now what??

Can you post the contents of your flashinstall.log file? I'd like to see what's going on.
Where do I find the Flash Player installation log on Windows?
Thanks,
Chris

Chris -- I found my FlashInstall.log file, but I do not know how to post it or attach it to this message board. Any suggestions?

Open it with notepad or your text editor of choice. Copy it to the clipboard, then paste it (ctrl+v) to a reply in this thread.
Thanks,
Chris

Chris - here is a copy of my FlashInstall.log file, I think. At least I think it is my latest effort at installing the Flash Player. Thanks for your help, and your patience.

Chris....
I am getting the same message. I know I am in the administrator account. I logged into the admin account on purpose because my first attempt on Chrome as a user(Admin also) and received this "the user does not have sufficient priveleges to install adobe flash player" error message. I tried 3 times..no luck!
