CS3 Master Collection installer asking for a nonexistent optical drive letter

I'm trying to install Illustrator from the installation disk. The installation requests that Disk 1 be inserted into drive L. My optical drive letters are D and G. How can I coerce the program to use an actual dvd/cd drive?

if you have any software mounted drives, you could try removing those.

or, you could work around the problem by downloading the installation files:  http://prodesigntools.com/download-adobe-cs4-and-cs3-free-trials-here.html

if you dl the trial, you must follow all 7 steps.  your serial number will activate.

A 404 error means the page is unavailable.

The fact is, the page that you put a link to is not there!

The 404 means you have not followed the Very Important Instructions on the prodesigntools page before clicking the download links.

The 7 steps are crucial for setting the correct cookies on your hard drive so that the Adobe servers will grant you access to the download files when you click the links.

So:

1. Go back to http://prodesigntools.com/download-adobe-cs4-and-cs3-free-trials-here.html
2. Follow the Very Important Instructions (Step 0 to Step 6 = 7 Steps)
3. Then click the download links and they will work.

I did what you instructed. I received 2 files for the Illustrator CS3 download.

Now I have 2 files with no file extensions that I can do nothing with.

I have ADBEILSTCS3_WWE and ILSTCS3_Cont_WWE.

I also have the Adobe Download Assistant.exe.

What do I do with these *_WWE files now?
