Latest Creative Cloud doesn't work at all

Running Creative Cloud 1.0.0.181 on Mac 10.8.4.  Have tried Photoshop CS6, CC, and Flash CC - all applications fail to start with the error "Configuration error Please uninstall and reinstall the product. Error: 16."

I have uninstalled.  Reinstalled.  Unintalled with Creative Cloud Cleaner.  Reinstalled.  Same error.

I have also tried resetting the permissions on the Adobe PCD folder to no avail.

This is absurd.  Who is in charge of your installation scripts?

Okay I've got it working now.

Open Terminal (Applications > Utilities > Terminal)

Type in

sudo chmod -R 775 /Library/Application\ Support/Adobe

then enter your root password

Not sure why the Adobe Installer couldn't do this when the installation executes, but whatever.

MilesDP15 have you reviewed your installation logs to determine the exact error you are receiving during the installation process?  If not then please see Troubleshoot with install logs | CS5, CS5.5, CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cs5-cs5.html for information on how to locate and interpret the installation log files.

I have also taken all of these steps, the one below from Mr. Singh, as well as checking the installation logs. They all report "no errors." The applications are installed. The problem is they won't open. Instead a message comes up:

Configuration error

Please uninstall and reinstall the product.

If this problem still occurs, please contact Adobe technical support for help, and mention the error code shown at the bottom of this screen.

Error: 16

The trouble began this morning after an update to the Application Manager came up on my screen. Then, once I closed an Adobe application, I could no longer open it or any other, the exception being Bridge in both CS6 and CC. They both work. I've uninstalled all products, then reinstalled. Same result. A major client is waiting on a revision to an Illustrator file in order to go to press. Please help.

I know this is of little help, but that's exactly what happend to me when I upgraded from CS6 CC to CS7 CC on my mid-2009 Macbook running 10.8.4. The updated installer broke CS6 and CS7 with an Error 16. Bridge CS6 and CS7 opens, but Help > Updates returns an error message and Bridge crashes.

I've been uninstalling, running the CS cleaner and reinstalling with no results.

I'm in contact with tech support. If I find out anything, I'll share.

Same here. No answers to offer, but downloading InDesign CC broke all of my CS6 applications. Cannot open because I just get the same Configuration Error 16. Uninstalled, reinstalled from both disc and CC, but same error. Checked permissions for both Adobe PCD folder and SLStore folder, and these matched the recommendations. Ran the Adobe Support Advisor software, and it found no errors. Adobe Muse seems unaffected, but InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Dreamweaver are all suffering from this error. Bridge seems to work in CS6, but I've stopped updating fearing that I will break something else, so have not tried the CC version. Running Mac Pro with OS X 10.8.4 and 24 GB of RAM. Everything worked perfectly until the attempted CC update of ID this morning. That's the last of my access to the CS apps I require. Adobe Chat could not help. On the phone with Adobe support now, and they are regurgitating the same support procedures. I've been escalated to Tier 2 and should expect a call back within 24 hours. Lovely! There was a time when new software from Adobe was a time of excitement.

I tried this without success. I stated so in my post: "Checked permissions for both Adobe PCD folder and SLStore folder, and these matched the recommendations."

It also seems that Miles tried as well: "I have also tried resetting the permissions on the Adobe PCD folder to no avail."

Since this is the only recommendation that Adobe is offering, we have all come across it and tried it: Miles, myself, the Adobe chat agent and the Adobe phone agent. Something new must be broken in this case.

Thanks for your concern.

I have checked all the different folder permissions in the above links and they are fine.  Here are all the [ERROR] entries from Photoshop CC install log.  There are many permission issues, but without knowing what they should be the log is worthless.  Also, the last line of the log states "Exit Code: 0 - No error." so I'm not putting to much faith into these logs.

There was an update since I posted yesterday, but I still get the same Error: 16 when I try to launch any Adobe product.

I have the same problem. Once the manager downloaded I tried to download CC. It acted like it is stalled (Mac OSX 10.8.4) and all I got was the Error 16 screen. I tried launching CS6 and the only app that would launch was Bridge. All apps produced the Error 16 screen. I uninstalled everything and used cleaner several times. Also checked permissions on a few folders from advise on any other thread. Nothing works. Now the manager does not even show CS6 so I cannot even go back and install that. I am dead in the water with work due!!! I hope they resolve this soon.

CC Manager only shows the CC version of the applications.  If you want CS6 then click on More Information under the desired app.  It will open a web browser for the CC version.  Scroll down and you'll see a drop down for the CC version - change this to the CS6 version.  Then scroll back up and click Download.

Okay I've got it working now.

Open Terminal (Applications > Utilities > Terminal)

Type in

sudo chmod -R 775 /Library/Application\ Support/Adobe

then enter your root password

Not sure why the Adobe Installer couldn't do this when the installation executes, but whatever.

Time Machined back before this fiasco. PS CS6 CC works fine.

Updated the AAM and before I even log in, PS CS6 goes Error 16 on me

Tried sudo chmod -R 775 /Library/Application\ Support/Adobe  several times.

CS6 still gives an Error 16

Uninstall/Reintall CS6 Error 16 again

Sorry folks...this new AAM update is nothing but trouble for me.

I'll run Time Machine to get my CS6 back until this is fixed.  I have had two days of this and that's enough.

Im not sure how safe this is, but it worked for me:

sudo chmod -R 777 /Library/Application\ Support/Adobe

This basically assigns all permissions to the Adobe folder.

Hope this helps someone!

Yes, this finally did the trick!

I had gotten a ticket from Adobe support and I let them go through their procedures. They tried fixing permissions in the Adobe App Support folder, namely the PCD and SLStore folders, but that didn't work. The apps did launch in the root account, so they suggested it was a user profile problem and I should contact Apple.

I don't know why the chmod 775 didn't work, but the 777 did help me.

Thanks for passing that on. I hope there is no blowback from mucking with the permissions either, but I need my apps up and running.

Oh, joy.  New version of CC = error 16.  This is absurd.  How much down time untill I get a month of CC for free because I sure as heck can't work.

If you are on a Mac, fire up Terminal. Enter this command: sudo chmod -R 777 /Library/Application\ Support/Adobe

It shpuld fix the problem and Photoshop CC should fire up.

Everything had been fine using CC for three months. I then had what I now know to be a major accounts permissions corruptions issue. Forgetting the best approach to computer problems is to go and stand under a tree and read the manual  I stuffed everything up and had to do a reinstall from Time Machine.

CC now unusable and reinstal required with Error 16's and no cure working

Also killed CS4 but never mind l only use those when in a hurry and CC drives me nuts.

Tried all of the suggestions on this discussion without success.

Eventually curious to see if this was a Firewall problem I went into my Firewall Options and added the CC apps after which everything has been fine.

Needed a failed install before I could  see the app to add it to the Firewall. Then did uninstall and reinstall.

An exception was Photoshop CC for which I had to open my Firewall. Of course it turned Firewall back on quick as.

Should add that I have not had a peep out of Adobe following my request for help.

I have since learned how to reset the Account Permissions via restart CMD R etc.

You will probably all pick up errrors in my terminology etc. but heck I drive boats not computers and this did work for me........
