My PDFs are doing an odd thing with bookmarks. They list as bookmarks every entry (paragraph) on the TOC and APL. But not consistently. Any ideas?
And is this an Acrobat issue or a Framemaker issue? Individual book chapters are okay as PDFs. It only happens when I make a PDF of the entire book. I've looked at the paratags and the bookmark setup, and can't see anything out of the ordinary.
It appears that it might be possible to have PDF settings, including bookmarks, at both the book and component file level. If so, and if these can be different, who knows what consequences might be. I know this is possible for Numbering..., and nuisance dialogs are the usual result in that case.
So you might try File > Print on just the TOC file, and see what [ PDF Setup ] > [Bookmarks ] has to say.

Is it missing particular headings, or every 4th heading, or is it seemingly random?

Very random. And thanks for asking.

Have you looked at Format > Document > PDF Setup while the book file is active?
Setting the bookmarks there, updating your book, and saving all files in book should clear up the issue.

Yes, we did try that.

And you're using File > Save as PDF to create your file?
And you have your Print Setup set to use the Adobe PDF print driver?

No, we were printing to a ps file. Yes, definitely have chosen the PDF print driver.

Oh, I will!
But I am excited now because my colleague didn’t have a chance to check her file, so I did. And the TOC booksmarks WERE wonky. So I’m trying the book pdf now, and if that doesn’t work, I’ll try the Save As PDF option too.

You
Are
Brilliant.
Taking the bookmarks out of the TOC and APL files has fixed this.
I don’t know how they got in there in the first place. We don’t remember putting them in there.
But it is FIXED and we are very happy.
Thanks!
