Install CS6 versions alongside new CC version

When Adobe announced the new Creative Cloud CC, they said that we will be able to continue to download and install the older CS6 versions concurrently with the new CC versions.

I wanted a truly fresh and clean installation, and so, before installing the new CC versions, I went through and manually deleted all my CS6 apps (from my Creative Cloud CS6 subscription) and then used the Adobe Cleaner App to clean my system and prepare for a fresh install of everything.

Now, I am faced with an issue in that I cannot find any way to download and install the old CS6 versions.

Was that just a ruse by Adobe that CS6 versions will remain downloadable/installable, or is there some trick to downloading the files?

I tried to download them from this page:

http://prodesigntools.com/adobe-cs6-direct-download-links.html

But clicking on any of the download links results in the following error:

Access Denied

You don't have permission to access "http://trials2.adobe.com/AdobeProducts/PHSP/13/osx10/Photoshop_13_LS16.dmg?" on this server.

Please advise.

I had the same problem, the solution is (might be ) - change browser!

I get the old "Files" "Apps" "Learn" with Google Chrome/Comodo Dragon. When I switch to opera - no problem, the new CC page "Files" "Download Center" "Learn" works perfectly.

Might be (old? )cookies or something else?!

Test switch browser and it might work!

There is a document on this page that shows you how you can reinstall your CS6 apps:

Well, that doesn't help much.

I followed the instructions on the page as follows:

  1. Go to the app page on the Download Center. Do one of the following:
    • Go to Download Center and click Download next the app to download. (Downloads the new Creative Cloud Installer DMG file).
    • In the Creative Cloud desktop app, navigate to a product and click More Information to open the app page in your browser. (Loads https://creative.adobe.com/apps and clicking More Info just takes me to the product page).
  2. Select a version of the app to download. (No where do I get an option to select a version to download).

There really should be an option directly in the desktop app to allow you to install the latest version or the CS6 version.

This is either a bug or a poorly designed workflow that does not work.

It is half way down the product page where it says "In This Version" change the pull down menu to CS6 and the download button at the top changes to CS6 download.

For example:  https://creative.adobe.com/products/premiere change the "in this version" to CS6 and the download button changes to download CS6 of Premiere.

It sure is an odd way of doing it though.

When I click on https://creative.adobe.com/products/premiere the page auto-refreshes to https://creative.adobe.com/apps. If I click on the "learn more" link, a new browser window opens at http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere.html where it gives me an overview, features, tech specs, etc. There is no In This Version link anywhere on the page. In the upper-right corner, I have a Log in to Creative Cloud › link and at the very top right I can see I am logged in already to my account as it says Welcome, Ali Samii.

Something is misconfigured

OK, so this is what I get.

1. When I am logged into CC, I have the CC logo, then a menu that says "Files", "Apps", "Learn". I do not have "Download Center".

2. When in the "Apps" page, each app has 2 links below it. "Download" which downloads "CreativeCloudInstaller.dmg" "and Learn More" which opens a new browser tab, for example: http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere.html.

3. On the page that opens in a new tab, there is a link to Log in to Creative Cloud › which opens https://creative.adobe.com/apps.

3. When I click on the link http://creative.adobe.com/products/premiere or https://creative.adobe.com/products/premiere the page refreshes to https://creative.adobe.com/apps.

It is an infinite loop.

Thanks Justin,

Maybe if Adone staff would actually respond to user queries, it would help.

And waiting on the phone 90 minutes to get a tech support rep from India who then goes through a scripted support proceedure that cannot be deviated from is really not very helpful and furstrating.

OK, I followed your recommendations and tried with another browser and it still didn't work. I thne decided to go and delete all cookies and caches related to any and all adobe.com domains from all my browsers and now I get the new CC site.

Adobe should at the very least add a KB telling users that if they see "Files" "Apps" "Learn" as the menu bar and not "Files" "Download Center" "Learn", they should clear all browser information related to adobe.com domains and try again.

It was extremely frustrating to jump though stupid little hoops for hours.

Please advise.

Hi alisamii,

When you use the direct links to download CS6, you just need to carefully follow the Very Important Instructions near the top of that page...

If you do then they all still work fine, or you can get CS6 via the Creative Cloud pages as described.

Note that you can also download the new CC release via direct links as well, and these are particularly helpful if you want or need to make an offline/disc/DVD backups or copies of the CC installer files.
