For Web Apps, how do you show first x number of characters of a field.

I'm sure there's  a more technical way of doing it but I just added a new field called "short description".

Writers get a bit miffed when their work is truncated at a random point, so this field allowed them to write a brief summation.

If you're looking for an automatic way then I'm sure someone else can help

Legacy tag => {tag_description, number_of_caracters}
