Adobe sign-in request appears randomly, permanently prevents usage of CCP deployed apps.

We've used CCP to successfully install the creative cloud suite onto our 10.8.4 build image this year for our labs.  When deployed with Deploy Studio, on average 7 out of 10 computers work.  The other few, when attempting to launch any adobe product (doesn't seem to matter which) Adobe Application Manager will attempt to launch and the app will dissapear from the dock.

On all following launches of any apps on this machine, the user is prompted with an Adobe ID login page saying our trial will expire in 7 days.  Even if one does login, it will continue to prompt for login everytime, with the app never actually launching.  This seems to happen across all users on the machine.

The only fix I've seen is to re-image.  Even this is semi-unsuccessful.  All images are being deployed across the same hardware so far, so I"m not sure it is a hardware issue.

Greatly reminds me of all the issues we've had with AAMEE.  Not happy.  I've tried following along with what's happening when it fails with fseventer but to no avail.

As it's almost the Fall semester, I could definitely use some advice as to what to do.

Thank you for responding Karl.

Don't mean to hijack your thread LabOps.  But I'll post my PDapp.log to see what Karl can see.

My PDapp.log was found in C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Temp.  Imaging scenario is just as you described.  We used the Adobe CC packager, and was a fresh install of a suite of Adobe applications for our lab.  Simply ran the setup.exe which installed all software. (After Effects, Audition, Dreamweaver, Edge, Fireworks, Flash, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere

Hi LabOps_,

Please let me know:

1. Machine Type(Win or Mac)

2. Are you creating Master Image and deploying on user machine

This is happening both on our windows and mac machines.

In focusing just on our Mac side.  We're on 10.8.4 on a pretty large range of hardware, but I've been focusing testing solely on the 1 TB Fusion iMacs.

We are making a master image.  I would deploy it modularly using something like Munki, but we have a lot of After Effects plugins, and camera plugins that need to be configured.

Our issue is that it works before pulling our image to our DeployStudio repo but when deployed I'd say now we're seeing about an 80% fail rate.  When users try to launch any adobe products, they'll be prompted to sign in before our "7 day" trial expires. I've read on one of my mailing lists that an Adobe Engineer said Creative Cloud doesn't support being deployed on a master image.. but this is in direct opposition to what our Rep told us when we were purchasing..

I've also noticed that in order for InCopy and Dreamweaver to launch without errors they require opening up some permissions on their application folder, otherwise it fails to detect some plugins.

Hey LabOps,

Been looking for answers myself, so you're not alone.

I'm dealing with the PC machines (Win7x64 SP1) by creating a master image and deploying using MS WDS.

After capturing our master image, I would test the system I created the master image on to ensure the Adobe CC apps were running fine.....and it was.

Moved forward to deploy, and found after deploying, the same "sign-in" message box anytime you launched any Adobe app regardless of user including local administrator.

Going to keep an eye on this thread.

Hi All,

It seems like everyone on this thread is using a method of Imaging rather than package deployment. So let's try and figure out why it is not working. We recommend in imaging scenarios that you first create a package with Creaitve Cloud Packager, install it to your master machine, launch the applications, make your adjustments and then capture the machine. Once complete the license to machine relationship should not be present and you should not receive any prompt to sign in to the applications.

This is obviously not happening in some instances. What we need to figure out is what the common demoninator is in this scenario. What applicaitons are being deployed ? Is the Creative Cloud Desktop Application supressed ? Is there adobe software already on the machines showing symptoms of the issue ?

Also if the PDapp.log file of the affected machines could be copied and pasted in to this thread that will allow for us to look at what might be causing the issue. The log can be found in ~Library/Logs

Cheers

Thank you for responding Karl.

Don't mean to hijack your thread LabOps.  But I'll post my PDapp.log to see what Karl can see.

My PDapp.log was found in C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Temp.  Imaging scenario is just as you described.  We used the Adobe CC packager, and was a fresh install of a suite of Adobe applications for our lab.  Simply ran the setup.exe which installed all software. (After Effects, Audition, Dreamweaver, Edge, Fireworks, Flash, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere)  Acrobat Pro XI installed separately and was installed first by the way.

With regards to the "Creative Cloud Desktop Application" being suppressed - not sure what that is.  Since I did not create the packages myself, I'm assuming it is one of the options when creating the packages?

Cut and pasted below.  This was after launching Adobe Photoshop CC (x64).

So i've found a solution that at least works for us.  I haven't seen the trial login screen come back since I've implemented it.. though I'm sure after the fall semester starts I'll know for sure if it works..

In my DeployStudio workflow (and now on all future builds) i've included the adobe_pkr provisioning file on our systems.   At first boot I run this:

/*location of adobe_prk*/adobe_prtk --tool=Serialize --leid=V7{}CreativeCloudEnt-1.0-Mac-GM --serial=*Serial* --adobeid=*adobeID*

The LEID i've used is for the entire Creative Cloud Enterprise package on mac, so you may need to change this to fit your needs.

This seems to successfully relicense all Adobe products for us.  If it doesn't stay licensed I may run this at each user login to be sure.

If a computer has become unlicensed this will also fix that as well.

Not ideal, but definitely a viable solution for us.  Exact same thing we had to do with CS6 Master Suite that we packaged before they updated it.

Hey Karl,

PM'ed you the OOBElib.log file.  Had AppSerialNumber listed, so didn't know if I should be posting it.

Thanks

Hello everyone, we are in the middle of deploying our images for the start of school. After imaging several hundred the login message started appearing on computers during post image testing in the field. All software was packaged using Adobe Creative Cloud packager, our image OS is Win 7 64 Ent. All apps were opened on master pc before sysprep. BTW using WDS to image. Any thoughts on a solution, possibly similar to the mac one identified in post 6? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

The provisiong toolkit works in windows as well! That'll solve your problems.

If you can find a way to run it on your already deployed machines you'll be good to go (not a windows admin..).

Thanks LabOps,

Briefly looking over the link, wondering if anyone can give me the exact step by step procedure.  Situation where an image already containing Adobe CC has been deployed.

At this point, I don't care if I have to hit each machine manually to get it to work.  Just way behind with workload and need to get this out of the way.

Hey sfisher_gcecnj

I'm in a similar situation as you, but not as bad.  I've had two out of seven deployments fail.  Presently, I am not in a position to take time out to troubleshoot but simply apply a fix until after school startup.

I've sent Karl some log files a day ago and hopefully his crew can come up with some indicators if the Adobe apps have been properly installed - which would give us some assurance to go ahead with deployment.

I saw the post by LabOps below, and will have to try it out.  Let me know if you make any progress.

Hi sfisher

Can you please provide me with the amtlib.log and oobelib.log files ? Either in PM or direct e-mail.

This is not the expected behaviour when CCP is used and I would like to get to the bottom of the issue.

Using APTEE is possible as a workaround but this is what CCP should be doing during the initial packaging.

I'm having the same problem as LabOps_

We are creating a master image with all the Adobe software and deploying the image with DeployStudio, some of the labs don't have any problems with the Adobe Software but most of them are getting the Adobe ID login page.

The one application thats acting different is the Adobe Acrobat Pro XI, when I click on it, it opens for a few seconds then it closes, I can see that the Adobe Application Manager opens but it doesn't display anything.

With the school year just around the corner, I hope we can find  a solution as soon as possible.

Hi All,

We are continuing to look at this issue but thus far only 1 person has sent us log files. The more log files we can get then the quicker we will be able to resolve the issue.

The log files we need are amtlib.log and oobelib.log files.

Also if you can just confirm, that CCP was used to create the package, what you are using to deploy the image and what message is appearing on the screen.

Cheers

Karl,

Here at Art Center College of Design, we are experiencing the same issues post imaging as everyone else.  We used CCP to create different packages and then install onto our images.  We have different types of Macs (Mac Pro, iMac, MacBookPro) running OS X 10.8.4 which were imaged using DeployStudio.  Our PCs (HP Z820 Workstations) are running Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit and imaged with Symantec Ghost 11.5.  The issue persists throughout.  Last week we didn't see the Adobe Sign-In messages, but this week we do; so we are assuming the problem pops up 7 days after our images are created/deployed.

Just to let you know, we have to use customized images as our different departments use special plug-ins for After Effects and InDesign.  Not all departments use the same image.  We're in semester break at the moment but school will start in less than 2 weeks so we need this resolved ASAP.

I will email you our oobelib.log for the Mac and PC shortly.

We have been experiencing the activation issues above, which we resolved with the activation script run post imaging.

We have recently seen apparent corruption in Photoshop CC when this same image is deployed to dissimilar (Older and with less RAM) iMacs.  The symptoms are frequent "Out of memory" errors that cause Photoshop to freeze when doing very basic tasks (including creating new files accessing basic menu options) and "Unable to parse JPEG data" errors when a jpeg is dropped onto a Photoshop file.  These errors do not occur 100% of the time but do happen frequently.

If I install CC with the same installer onto a clean Mountain Lion installation on these machines the problems do not seem to occur.  If I copy the entire Photoshop folder from a functional machine to a machine that is experiencing the problems it does not fix the issue.  Neither does resetting the PS preferences.

These images are captured and deployed via DeployStudio.  Is anyone else seeing this issue?  Any suggestions?

For what it's worth ----

I successfully installed CCP "trial" versions of Acrobat, Flash, InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop on my master images.  On those master images I also added the Adobe provisioning toolkit files in known folder locations.  Informaion about that provisioning toolkit is available at: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/packager/provisioning-toolkit-enterprise.html

After setting the master computers they were then captured and pushed with DeployStudio for Mac and the Dell KACE 2000 environment for windows to my lab computers.  In both deployment models, there are post-imaging scripts which include command line calls to run the Adobe provisioning process as described above.

All my Adobe apps, on hundreds of computers, are running without errors and without requesting sign-in or activation.

If anyone would like more specific details on my process please let me know.

I use Ghost to deploy images to lab computers. I used CCP to successfully install the creative cloud suite onto the images. When launcing an Adobe program the user is prompted with an Adobe ID login page saying it will expire in 7 days. Even if one does login, it will continue to prompt for login everytime, with the app never actually launching. It's not happening on every computer that has Adobe on it.

I contacted our Adobe Education rep about the problem and this is what he said:

There is a known issue with imaging with Ghost. Sometimes, the work around is to not include Acrobat. I would recommend not including Acrobat in the package and using the Acrobat Customization Wizard to package Acrobat (more info here: http://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/index.html). We have significant resources looking at resolving this issue, but the easiest workarounds right now are either not including Acrobat or using the Provisioning tool to serialize on each computer. Here is more on the toolkit (APTEE): http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/packager/provisioning-toolkit-enterprise.html

I used the Provisioning tool to serialize the computers that had the Sign in window problem and that fixed the problem. The Sign in window no longer appears and it no longer says there are 7 days left before it expires.

EDIT: Resolved my issue. The adobe_prtk.exe file available to me on LWS is a 500kb file. I downloaded the file from here instead -- a 2MB file -- and it worked.

I am attempting to resolve this same issue in our environment using the provisioning tool. However, every time I use the syntax suggested in this thread, I get a return code = 1.

/*location of adobe_prk*/adobe_prtk.exe --tool=Serialize --leid=*LEID* --serial=*Serial* --adobeid=*adobeID*

I've tried other tools/methods to serialize/unserialize/reserialize/generate prov file, etc and I get a return code = 1 for everything. Which leads me to believe I'm doing it wrong.

I couldn't find the provisioning tool available locally as a result of the CCP install, so I downloaded the tool from the LWS and copied it to the root directory on the client machine. Should I be running the provisioning tool from another location, instead? Any other insight?

Just used the provisioning tool to serialize our computers in production with the sign in window problem. Did not fix the problem. Will follow up by sending logs to Karl Gibson.

Endicott-AT,

Just to give you a heads up, Karl Gibson is on Paternity Leave till September 30, 2013.  Your best bet is to contact Rick Miller, rimiller@adobe.com or Romit Sinha, romsinha@adobe.com for assistance.  They were very helpful and quick to respond to our issue.
