FlashPlayerPlugin_11_9_900-117.exe - Application Error

New Here ,
Oct 15, 2013 Oct 15, 2013

Copy link to clipboard

Copied

OS: W7

Browser: Firefox

1. Some web pages do not look proper.

2. Whenever I start up the browser, I get the following message:

"FlashPlayerPlugin_11_9_900-117.exe - Application Error

The exception unknown software exception (0x0000710) occurred in the application at location 0x7742a389.

Click on OK to terminate the program."

I suspect that problem #1 (above) has something to do with problem #2.

Any thoughts, though, on how to resolve these issues?

Hi William,

Could you please navigate to "about:crashes" in Firefox and copy/paste the contents of the page displayed into a forum reply?  Did these crashes just start occuring?  Could you try reverting to 11.7 to see if that resolves the problem?

How do I revert to a previous version of Flash Player?

Thanks,

Chris

Hi William,

I have read this elsewhere and what everybody is saying is Flash Player Plugin 11.9 is not compatible with the newest Firefox 24. This error message started appearing only after 10/8/2013 when Flash plugin 11.9 was released. I fixed this by downgrading to Flash Plugin 11.8 and the error message stopped appearing. Here's a helpful tutorial blog post - http://www.fixnowsupport.com/3/post/2013/10/fix-flash-player-plugin-error-0xc0000710-in-firefox.html

Or, you could follow these steps:

  1. Uninstall Flash Plugin 11 through the Add/Remove programs in Control Panel.
  2. Download Flash Plugin 11.8 (156.2 MB) file from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html
  3. Run the win.exe file (not the debug folder)
  4. Open Firefox again and the popup should be gone.

I'll try the second reply's suggestion(s). I do have firefox 24.

First, however, is info regarding the first reply.

Re: First reply (above):

1. If memory recalls, the error is relatively-recent.

2. Following is the about-crashes page:

3. Numerous times, now, I've gone to the adobe flash download page and tried re-installing. For example, through control panel, I just uninstalled flash player.

Then I re-booted Firefox and it asked if I wanted to install the flash plugin. So, I said ok.

Yet, during installation, a message said:

"No plugins were installed.

Adobe Flash Player 11.8.800.168 Failed."

Try these instructions for uninstalling:

Uninstall Flash Player using the stand alone uninstaller here :  http://download.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/support/uninstall_flash_player.exe

Then Install Flash Player 11.7 : http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/win/install_flash_player_11_7_plu...

What's odd here is that your "about crashes" page has the last crash back in late August.  For some reason these crashes aren't being logged...

@park_marv - Thanks for the heads up on the incompatibility.  Can you point me to threads regarding 11.9 and Firefox 24 that I should be aware of?

Thanks,

Chris

I spoke too soon, because the original error message is back. It appeared when I booted my firefox.

Any thoughts on how to resolve this?

Can you verify that you are still on 11.7?  I forgot to mention that we'd need to disable or change the update mechanism and it might have silently updated you back to 11.9.

Okay, try these steps:

  1. Download the Flash Uninstaller from here - http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html
  2. Run the Uninstaller to remove all traces of Flash from your computer.
  3. Visit the Adobe Flash Archives page and download Flash Plugin Player 11.8 (156MB) file from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions. html
  4. Run the win.exe file. Click on Install. In the next window, choose Notify me to install updates and then click on Done. That way, your Flash won't automatically update to 11.9

This page explians the whole process - http://www.fixnowsupport.com/3/post/2013/10/fix-flash-player-plugin-error-0xc0000710-in-firefox.html  Except for the last step. There, be sure to select Notify me to install updates option and click Done.

I have no idea how a space got in that link. The link again is http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html I've double checked it this time and the link works

So, if you checked Notify me to install updates during installation it should prevent automatic updating.

I made the switch and everything seems to be working, again - although, the repeated update notice is a bit annoying.

So, I look forward to a fix.

Yet, I can live how things currently appear.

Thank you!
