Cannot install Flash Player on Maverick

Installation is now only possible via the Adobe install site http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

However, when I click the  Install  button I am thrown back to the Adobe homepage and nothing happens.

Earlier you had to click "Allow other plugins" in the Safari preferences. But in Safari 7 this has disappeared. I could not find anything equivalent in all the settings.

Any thought how to proceed? Or has Apple entered the next stage in its fight against flashplayer and is blocking it now on the Mac too?
