Hi
I have downloaded the TCS 5 trial verison for evaluation purpose. i am trying to open my existing FM11 files in FM12 but it gets to "Not Responding" mode.
The FM11 doc has plain text in various formats and nothing fancy.
Can somebody please help?
Thanks in advance.

I've been using 12 for a year or so and never had that problem.
Did you reboot after the installation? Are you using File > Open within
Frame? Did you run the trial install as an Administrator so your
permissions are set properly?

Yes, I rebooted my system after installation. In fact, I have tried uninstalll, reinstall, and reboot twice.
I am running it as an administrator and I have tried both Select the file > Open with > FM12 and Launch FM > File menu > Open by selecting the file.

Have you tried to drag&drop a file from Explorer to the open FM 12 window?
Can you open any of the sample FM12 included with the installation without any issues?

I just tried drag and drop method and it fails.
Yes, I am able to open the sample files. I am even able to create a new file using the sample templates.

Ttry saving the FM11 file as MIF from your FM11 installation and see if that opens. If it still fails, then there's something messed up with your installation, permissions or policies.
Like Art mentions, I've been using FM12 from the start of the pre-release and I've opened files back to FM4 without any issues.

Do you have both Frame installs on the same system? Probably not supported.
..
Can you save an 11 file as MIF and open in 12?

Art, I've got FM6 to FM12 on the same machine with no side-effects or inteference.

Tried with saving as FM 10, MIF11, and MIF7. But no use.
You guys might be right about my installation. Since I have already reinstalling it twice, I am not sure what else I can do here. I have been using FM 10 and FM 11 without any issues.

Now this is getting interesting.
While I am still not able to open the FM 11 file, I thought of continuing to play with the new FM12 file I created from scratch. Now even that is not opening. It gets to the Not Responding mode.

Sorry, I forgot to mention one main information here.
I am able to open the FM11 books. The issue is only with the individual files.

I had a chat with the Adobe support now. Before sharing my screen, I had closed my offical mail client (Lotus Notes). When I shared my screen and demonstrated the task, I was able to open all the FM11 problem files in FM12 without any issues.
I logged out of the chat, opened my mail client and tried to do the same FM11 file. FM12 became unresponsive. But the moment I closed my mail client, the frozen FM12 came back to life and opened my file.
Any idea what could be wrong?

No idea of the specifics of it, but you should put a bug in about this to let Adobe see if they can figure out what’s interfering between the two programs.

And, just on a hunch.... Maybe go into your Windows settings and take a
look at the file extension / application links for .FM .
Lotus uses a number of them in the format .FMX, where X is some other
character. Possibly there's something amiss there.

Hi Art
The .FM is currently associated with FM10.
