I am unable to view my Primary Layout single source webhelp properties in RH9.  Several of the single source layout icons have "?" marks on them.   How do I correct this?   Thanks.

Can you post an image of what you're seeing? My guess is that RoboHelp

can't find the SSL in the project, but I expect a red cross and not a

question mark.

Try removing the CPD file and reopening your project.

Kind regards,

Willam

Willam, thanks for your response.

Removing the CPD and reopening the project yields the same result.  I have been working the project for a couple of months with no issues, and able to generate the webhelp.  Now, all of a sudden, generate does not display any results in the Output View pane, and as stated previously, the Properties dialog does not display for the SSL.

Can you recommend other troubleshooting short of RH9 reinstall?   Thanks.

I see what you mean by question marks. They are supposed to show as they

are part of the icon for the output. But for some reason, not all SSL

types have the question mark.

Some more questions: Is it only for this specific SSL? If you open one

of the example projects, can you create the output there?

Also, try creating a new SSL in your project and see whether that works.

If that works, just delete the broken SSL.

I suspect that the problem is in the SSL, not in the RoboHelp

installation. And if it is in the SSL, a reinstall won't help.

Kind regards,

Willam

I had a similar thing happen recently. I did as William suggested - I deleted the "non working" WebHelp SSL and then created a new WebHelp SSL and it worked. Hope it works for you. As far as I've seen the question marks are always there on all but the Printed Documentation. If that's not right please let me know.

Cheers,

Russ

Hi Folks

If you ever noticed, the question mark is more of a standard symbol for "Help". Because RoboHelp is a help authoring tool, many of the icons sport a question mark. As Willam indicated, it doesn't mean that something is amiss, unfinished or undefined. Instead, it is simply the icon that represents the layout.

If you look in your Windows file system at any CHM file (a standard Windows help file) you will notice that it too has a question mark.

And the older WinHelp (.HLP) format (Pre-Windows 95) was a blue circle with a question mark:
