FrameMaker 10 (v. 10.0.2.419), Window 7.
When copying text from Word into FrameMaker, I would like "TEXT" to be the first item in the dialog box when using Paste Special.
We have edited the ClipboardFormatsPriorities in the maker.ini file by moving TEXT from the end to the beginning of the line:
ClipboardFormatsPriorities=TEXT, FILE, MIFW, MIF, RTF, OLE 2, META, EMF, DIB, BMP, UNICODE TEXT
So far, the changes have not taken affect.
Can this be done?
Thanks
Debbie

There are two maker.ini files; one system, one (for each) user.
Which did you edit?
I assume the user file has the last word, but don't really know, as this isn't an issue on the old FM I run.
And did you exit and re-start FM?

We tried both...the system and the user and restarted FrameMaker each time.

That should do it – which maker.ini did you change? Check both of them to make sure that the user one is overriding the “factory” one.

Debbie,
This maker.ini entry sets the priority for the standard paste (ctrl + v), not the Paste Special (ctrl + shift + v).

Thanks for clarifying that Arnis. Thanks for the responses everyone!

Sorry – I completely missed the “Paste Special” part of your OP – the whole point of messing with this line is so you don’t have to bother with the “special” part of it, LOL ;>)

No worries Jeff. Knowing that I can use the standard paste (ctrl + v) and bypass the paste special (ctrl + shift + v + t) makes this a very happy Friday indeed

Yes, it saved me buckets of time when copying/[pasting from Word source docs
