I gave up on flash several months ago due to the amount of time I was spending trying to get updates installed.  I thought I'd try this again as I have friend asking for help with this.  I'm astounded the issue has not been resolved.

This computer is Win 7 Home Premium.  I'm now using IE 11.  I'm trying to install the Adobe version that is the download section.

I have run through the clean install several times.  I've rebooted after all the steps.  I've used the uninstaller and offline installer.

Anti-Virus is suspended.

SAFE mode did not help either.

Run from an ADMIN authority userid.

The error is "A required file (C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\activex.vch:5) could not be written due to insufficient permissions."

Can anyone help with this?  The log files are below.  Thanks!

For unknown reasons the installer is unable to remove/replace C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\activex.vch

Delete the file manually, then try the install again.  Use http://www.emptyloop.com/unlocker/ if you also cannot delete the file manually.

Thanks for your response Pat.

The file in question was not in the folder.  The clean installation process included removing all files from that folder.  I didn't set the folder options to show hidden files.  Is this a hidden file?

I don't know if this is a hidden file or not.  What I would recommend that you delete the Flash folders (in both C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed and C:\Windows\system32\Macromed) after uninstalling, then try the reinstall again.
