Setting up Business Catalyst POP mail account on Mac mail (V5)

Hi, I've successfully, registered a domain name and directed it to the Muse site hosted on the BC servers.  Works great.

There is an admin account set up on BC to look after the website (gt-consulting.org).

I'm registered as a site administrator and so is the person who's site it is.

I'm trying to set up an e-mail account.

I've sent an e-mail reset mail (from the E-mail Accounts section) so that the site 'user' can set up their own password.

I've added/enabled an e-mail account on the BC system and added a new MX record in Site Domains.

Now trying to set up the POP mail account on mac mail.

The e-mail client is not conneting because (we think) the password isn't correct.  Which password do we use?  Is it the password that was set from the 'reset password mail' or is it the password used to log into the BC admin console?

Also, V5 of Mac Mail doesn't seem to have an option to switch off 'Authentication', which the Adobe help page seems to indicate is required.

Any help, greatfully appreciated.

Hi,

Use your password associated with the 'reset password email'.

Your login password for BC Admin is different. It is only for logging in to BC Admin.

Here is a list of how to set up different email clients.

Not sure if there has been an answer for this since it is a bit old...

With regard to Apple Mail version 7.2; I had to:

  1. uncheck "Use Only This Server" in the account settings in Apple mail
  2. In the Advanced settings I unchecked the "Use SSL" and configured with port 143

All is working fine for now.

Thanks for the reply.  WE did sort it in the end... we had to change a setting to 'imap'.

Thanks.

Changing pop to imap solved it for me. Thanks for the heads up.
