RH 11 Lists are all set to 0 after upgrading to TCS 5

I just upgraded from TCS 3.5 to TCS 5.

I use FM as my source and RH WebHelp as my output.

My numbered lists all start at 0 now.

Before I upgraded, In RH 9 (TCS 3.5), I created RH Styles and used the following numbering format:

Format: <x>

Numbering: decimal: 123

Prefix Style: None

I mapped my FM style to the RH Style.

Numbers worked fine:

Now, they are all zeros:

When I open a topic and look at the HTML page, it has added this: start="0"

If I delete the start="0" text and then click back on the Design Tab, the numbers appear:

Where is the 0 coming from? I can't find a setting anywhere.

Thanks.

Are you linking or importing? How are your list para tags being handled in your Conversion Settings?

I am linking to the FM Book File.

I make any necessary changes in FM, and do not manipulate the RH files.

My FM tags are:

Example from FM file:

In RH, I created similar styles:

This worked prior to the upgrade. I'm confused.

Here's the CSS content:

Thanks for your help.

Sorry, missed your screenshots there before – how does the HTML behave if you create a fresh topic in a new RH project using those defined number styles? Is it sneaking in the same start=0 thing? If so, congrats, you’ve probably discovered a bug; if not then there may be something messed up in the FM to RH linking. BTW – are you all patched up in TCS5?

All patched for TCS5.

Adds the start=0 if I import the FM file, too.

Works correctly if I create a new topic and manually apply the RH styles:

Smells like a bug then in the FM/RH integration. Report it to Adobe using this link - https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform

Thanks. Not what I wanted to hear, that's for sure. I submitted a bug report.

This is a huge problem for me and might prevent me from using the upgraded software.

I'll try the format as text option, but on first glance it didn't look like a great alternative.

As a workaround you might just a FAR tool to strip out the offending “start=0” bits out of the generated help

I was thinking of a script like the Reference Page Image Updater.jsx one I use for the reference page graphics to remove the text.

Is this what you are referring to?  http://helpware.net/FAR/help/

I'll try that.

I do like some of the new elements of TCS5 and it seems to have cleaned up a cross-reference bug I was having.

I dislike dumbing down what I do in FM because RH can't handle it.

I already have to convert FM sub-steps to RH bullets because it won't restart the numbering sequence unless you manually tell it to.

I haven't 't looked at this release yet to see if they fixed that.

That’s one flavour of FAR tool – there are others out there.

I can remove the start="0" text with the Edit --> Find and Replace in Files feature:

I received an answer from support:

We have investigated the issue and we have found a bug in the workflow for autonumbering. Fixing the bug will take some time. For now, I can suggest you a workaround. In your source Document, I can see the Autonumber format for various paragraphs (e.g. NumberedListFirst, NumberedList, etc) have redundant < =0> formats. These specify the restart number of the next level list. < =0> means the next level list will start from 0+1=1 which is the default case so you don’t need to specify that in the format. Removing all these < =0> from your autonumber format strings will fix the issue.

My Numbered List format = H:<n+>< =0>< =0>< =0>< =0>\t

I'll try changing to this and see what happens:  H:<n+>< >< >< >< >\t

Removing ALL of the =0 does not work in FM.

Think I'll stick with search and replace for now.
