What do you mean when you say it's getting hung? Is it scanning for changed
files or something?

It's scanning the folder for all of the files in that site. Think of it like you just installed Dreamweaver and you're trying to create a new site within it. I point it to the directory for that site and it begins scanning all of the files. When it reaches a certain directly it ends up locking up and won't continue. It doesn't happen with the same exact file, but always in the same directly. there's nothing strange in that directly from what I can see, though, and this is the only site it happens with.

as I said, there is another user on this same machine where this site is already configured in Dreamweaver and works just fine. I just can't get it to import into a new account on the machine.

Is there a way i can copy the configuration of web sites from one user to the new user? That way I wouldn't ahve to actually setup the site cuz it would already be setup..??

Export the site definition from one system, and import it to the other one,
using the Site Manager.

Will two users be sharing the same local site? <quivering in my boots>

Also, does the site contain any swf files?

Ok this is getting a little rediculous.

I tried using the export/import site definitions features in site manager. It gets ung up in the same place trying import the site that way.

So then I cut/pasted all of the site files in that folder into a temp directory. then I went back into DW and setup the site using that empty folder. Once setup in DW I then went back through Windows Explorer and cut/pasted all of the files from the temp directory back into the actual site directory. Upon switching back to DW, whola, all of the files showed up and everything seemed ok.

However, after doing this when I close DW and open it again it gets ung on Initializing Extension Data and will not open until I move all of those site files back out of the site folder into the temp directory.

This site works perfectly and has for 1 year and a half under the other user. I'm stumped.

Ok, i've tracked this down to 1 file that is causing the problem. It's just a basic .asp file that uses Dreamweavaer behaviors for updating a record.

any ideas?

If I log onto the original user's account on the machine and open up dreamweaver with this file included in the site DW will open file and scan that sites files fine. If I open the problem file in DW it opens fine and everything seems ok until I click on the Server Behaviors panel. then it locks up.

If I'm signed on with the new user's account I can't even get the DW to get through scanning the site files w/o it getting locked up if that page is included. simply remove that page and then it loads fine, but if I add it back in it locks up again.

On the new user's account, as long as the page does NOT reside in the site's root then the site will scan/load fine.
