My IE crashed every time I went to page with flash content in five seconds . Just boot ,run IE and go to adobe.com .After 5 seconds IE crashes . My second PC does not. And the BIG difference is just one bit: the working machine runs Flash9d.ocx , the non-working Flash9e.ocx.

I have the same problem on XP, IE6. It doesn't crash on non-flash websites.

I am completely new here...just found this forum this afternoon.

I have the new updated Flashplayer9, I also have a Zazzle store (*which uses a flash panel to display items on anyone's store front) and go to many art websites including Deviant Art (*that has flash all over the place). My IE crashes and drops me just the same. I also have Norton and it detects this as a Medium severity problem. I tried going in and copy/pasting flash9 dot ocx, and creating the fake flash dot ocx to stop this error. It is still an issue with the newest version. I do graphics, I am not all that techy but I am also not a total idiot, I have a fast system and 4 GB of memory, Pent4 Dual, and a invidia 1900 video card (*I think that is it, duh). Anyway. I too, have a new Dell GX 745. Strangely just recently I "Lost" a download folder with 47GB of info off my D drive, just went poof! and now more then ever I think it is due to this strange Flashplayer issue. I have resisted FF for the last 5 years. I don't know why, maybe I don't like change... But at this rate I am so fed up. I cannot believe that this company (*Adobe) with all the money it makes (*like off of me for CS!) can't get thier collective 'poop' in a neat pile still!
    *sigh
    Is FF the only way?

How are people not having this problem on any other browsers? I'm on a Mac with Firefox and Safari, which I don't use. This problem started occurring while I was browsing a flash-player-heavy website in Firefox, so I started browsing it in Safari. A day later, now even Safari is crashing too! This is really annoying!

Interesting to see it's only being addressed for IE though. It's happening to every browser! Be warned!

For anyone else with this problem, after going through uninstall/reinstall hell, I stumbled on the ULTIMATE FIX for this.

    1. Go to Adobe's website and click on the 'Flash Player Uninstaller' for your operating system
Choose Save, and then save the file to your desktop

    2. Right-click on the file you downloaded and choose 'Create Shortcut'

    3. Right-click on the Shortcut you just made and choose 'Properties'

    4. A new screen will appear. In the Target field add “ /clean” so that it looks like this:
    "C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\uninstall_flash_player.exe" /clean
Note: Make sure there is a space after the “ and before the /

    Click OK

    5. Double-click on the Shortcut you created to run it
Click OK and Close when prompted

NOW you can download the latest version of FlashPlayer and you will have absolutely no problems.
