System color change problem

When I start up illustrator it changes my computer's color depth from beautiful 32 bit to weird 8-bit... everytime. I have to open my NVIDIA settings and adjust it back to 32 bit...everytime. When I save, my screens blink out repeatedly and change color only to eventually return to normal. I dont know how or why this is happening. I have a 64 bit system and a 32 bit illustrator CS5 and I am using a NVIDIA card. Any one have any advice? It is only illustrator. The other adobe suite programs work fine.

PLease Help.

Are you using any old plug-ins or scripts or a custom panel?

Honestly, I dont know... I do not know how to check or fix this either... My Illustrator is whatever my install file is, I dont get updates and have not added any plugins that I know of. I customized my workspace and at some point(only visible layout of tools and panels), and I might have adjusted my color settings but Im not sure. I am not super computer talk friendly, but know my way around well enough to get work done. When it breaks im dead in the water.

Has anyone seen this problem before or do you have any suggestions?
