Serial Error

May 14, 2012 12:34 PM

Just downloaded CS6 upgrade from CS5.5 on my Mac.

When I came to install it, CS6 claimed it could not detect any qualifying installation and turned down the CS5.5 serial I'd just taken from my Adobe online account.

I contacted support and they ran me through a process that involved a special code to activate my CS6 install without needing a serial.

But they didn't explain what was going on (and ignored my questions). The guy did mention volume licencing but did not elaborate. I don't have a volume licence as I only ever had one copy of CS5.5

Am I going to have to call Adobe for the special code every time I reinstall or when I install the main edit suite (this evening I'm just testing CS6 on my laptop).

Anyone have any idea? I'm rather baffled! I don't want to be contacting Adobe every time I re-install. That could be quite painful as last year I had an issue on the main edit suite that involved 2 re-installs on one day (CUDA problem, don't ask!!!).

Cheers.

I've run into the same problem, but also just solved as I began typing this message.

In my case I had to select the version I was upgrading from and typed in the CS5 Extended serial that I had. That solved the issue for me. I was never prompted to enter the CS6 serial.
