DW CS6 Mac won't start

May 16, 2012 4:25 PM

I just did an upgrade of CS5 Master Suite to CS6 Master Suite.  I first did an uninstall on CS5.  Then I installed CS6.  Every other application in CS6 works fine except DW.  It starts, bounces the icon once or twice and then quits.  I checked the folder permissions under ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver CS6 and they are fine (R/W for me and staff)

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Try trashing that folder.  If that doesn't try disabling extensions in case something is not compatible.  If that doesn't work, post back with the OSX version you are using.

I had the exact same problem - however my Dreamweaver wasn't even creating prefs - Adobe Live Chat helped me solve it.

Create a new Admin Login User in your System Prefs>Accounts.

Restart with this new Admin User.

Dreamweaver should now start up and create prefs - User>Library>Application Support>Adobe>Dreamweaver 6

Copy the Dreamweaver 6 Folder and paste somewhere on your HD that you will remember (eg Applications Folder).

Restart with your normal User Account.

Move the Dreamweaver 6 Prefs Folder into your User>Library>Application Support>Adobe folder

Dreamweaver should now start up using these prefs.

I had to get the preferences out of the " User>Library>preferences" folder and use them, rather than out of the " User>Library>Application Support>Adobe>Dreamweaver 6" to get this to work
