Can I fade a component on top of a button?

Hello.

 

I'm working on Catalyst CS5.5, and need to do the following:

 

When I click on a button I want a component that is on top of that button to fade in. Is there any way to do this without changing the state? When I place a component on top of a button, I can't click the button to animate it. And if I place it under the button, the component is not completely visible. The goal is that when I click on the component next it will fade out and make the button visible again.
