Getting plugin preferences from extension

If we can make a hybrid extension with a plugin, is there a way to get to the plugin preferences? The GetIntegerPreference() listed in the API Reference (for Illustrator) seems to only be available for application-level preferences. Is there a plugin or extension preference setter/getter that I haven't found yet?
