How can I find a link to download InDesign ME (Middle East)? I need to do a book of 60 pages in Japanese (Furigana). Is there another way to write from right to left and start in the last page of the publication from the beggining, using "normal" InDesign?
The ME version of InDesign is not the same as the J version of InDesign. I believe you'll have problems trying to use the ME version to typeset Japanese, especially if you want to use features like Kinsoku. You need either World Tools or the J version.
appears to let me select the Japanese language version. Did you try that, and does it not work?
Just to further clarify:
The Japanese version of InDesign supports CJK features, and the ME version supports ME features (control over right-to-left text). All versions support all features under the hood (using either the World Ready or Japanese composers), but there is no single composer which supports all languages. There is also no version of INDesign which exposes the controls for all languages.
No only way to get control of all language features in a single version of InDesign is by using World Tools Pro.
The distribution of non-Roman versions of the Creative Suite is a bit confusing, and I hope to write a blog post about it...
It is worth mentioning that furigana are a special sub-set of Japanese typography, little phonetic symbols placed above or beside characters; these are often referred to as "ruby text," or in MS Word as "Phonetic Guide." If all you need is to set regular-size kanji and kana text in vertical columns right-to-left then you might be able to get by with the TechArt templates for InDesign in any language, still available from TransPacificDigital. But real furigana introduce a whole new level of complexity.
Two things worth keeping in mind about Japanese versions of ID: 1) they cannot co-exist on the same system with the same version in another language; and 2) last time I looked (and unlike Quark) they only allowed a Japanese interface. Harbs' World Tools Pro avoids both.
Thanks for all, I have researched everything that you said and the best solution for me is to install the plugin "Pro Tools World" http://in-tools.com/products/plugins/world-tools-pro/
