crash with Premiere Pro CS6 (6.0.1) update

May 25, 2012 11:00 AM

6.0.1 has crashed with "serious error" messages four times so far. Many clips aren't loading via Dynamic Link with AE.  Some fall offline for no reason I can see.  All functions are slow. Nothing fixed from my week of troubles.

  • Mac OSX 10.7.4
  • Safari streaming a live podcast in background.  Happens when it's closed too.
  • No third party codecs that I know of. AE6 has Magic Bullet Colorista Free, Magic Bullet Looks (both installed from their CS6.0 updates), Neat Video denoiser, Foundry Camera Tracker, Video Copilot Twitch, Video Copilot Optical Flares
  • Mac Pro 5,1, 32 gb memory, Nvidia Quadro 4000 for Mac.
  • Yes, though not all previously-linked frames load.  Pending files take very long to load.  Moving a clip results in a spinning wheel.
Branched from an earlier discussion.

Can you post the crash log from either OSX, or the Adobe Crash Reporter?

If you do have the crash log, please send it to Charles via PM.  If it's posted in the thread, the topic becomes unreadable for anyone else.

    Thanks!

    Jeff

I personally don't have a problem posting on the thread because it sometimes aids search engine support.  For example, on Audition, there were several times where a specific iTunes plug-in was causing problems with the audio hardware output, and one could see it by a certain word in the crash log.  The other reason is that sometimes engineers on the team will casually read through the forums, and posting it here would result in a greater number of eyes on the problem.  Just my 2 cents.

I've never dealt with crash logs.  Where do I find it?

Here is a writeup I did for Audition that explains some of the steps that helps the chances of us figuring out what the issue is: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/900619.  I'll need to rewrite that for Premiere sometime.  Perhaps there's already a document that's helpful.

Anyways, with the crash log from OSX you should first see the crash dialog from OSX, press [ Report... ].

That will expand the dialog such that you can see all the information from the crash dump, that's what we need.  Then you can send or dismiss.

Then, you'll see an Adobe dialog.  If you Press the [ Information ] blue text, in that window, that has the same information, plus a little more specific for Adobe.

Call Adobe Tech Support and speak to Vinay. He is a smart and patient dude.

I personally don't have a problem posting [crash logs] on the thread

I might not really get a vote here but...I do.  Those crash logs make the thread very unwieldy for us regular users, who most often can't really decipher that stuff anyway.
