I have a weird issue going on with a CF9 install on windows server 2008.
The application log file will not archive when clicking the icon.
I have tried this from the server and my local machine.
I do not see any error messages being generated.
Think it could be a permissions issue? I did change permissions on our dev box to everyone full control just to test and that did not have any effect.
Any other ideas?
What are you saying happens when you do it? For me, I see it just dropping in size. To be clear, you will not see a “new file” appear in the “log files” interface. It creates the rotated file (in Re: Logs not archiving or deleting when buttons clicked in cfadministrator\logs) as application.log.1. Therefore, it does not appear in that list (which lists only files ending in .log). Can you confirm that when looking in the folder, you are not seeing any new application.log.1 there? What about others, as you rotate them?
This morning after almost two months the application log did rotate on demand. IE I clicked the archive Icon. But now the other ones such as the server log does not rotate when the button is clicked. the file size does not change when I hit the button and the file does not rotate in the logs directory. The log files do automatically rotate it seems because I do not see the log files with the number at the end, but they do not rotate when I hit the icon.
I am really baffled as to why the application log rotated for me today. I try this every morning after reviewing the logs and it has not worked for 2.5 months, since I started my new job.
Well, you have to admit it’s going to be a little hard to debug (remotely) when it’s flipped just today from the app log not rotating and the others doing so, to now the app log rotating and the others not.
I’m curious: did you apply any CF hotfix or make any other change to CF overnight?
