How can I download to a drive other than C?

I want to download and install all programs and features to drive E.

Here's what I did:

  • Downloaded the Adobe Application Manager onto drive E and let it install.
  • The Adobe Application Manager installed onto drive C

(I didn't notice any options to change it's install location)

  • When it opened I clicked on "install" next to Photoshop CS6
  • it gave me the error:

               Installation Failed

Insufficient disk space. Please clear space on C:\ and try again. (-30)

  • I went into preferences and changed the install location to a Program Files folder located on disk E
  • Clicked "install" next to Photoshop again
  • Same error message

I figure that it might be trying to download it to drive C before installing it to drive E, if that's the case then how can I change that so that it both downloads AND installs on drive E?

The download uses the Temp folder. Ergo, you need to adjust your system's "temp" variable. My Computer --> Right-click --> Properties, then choose Advanced System Settings --> Environment variables.

Some installers let you choose the install location (e.g. Adobe Reader), but others don't (I don't know about Photoshop, but I found this http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/install-uninstall-photoshop-cs2.ht ml - see 5.).

To clear some space on the C: drive try http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

I'm trying to do the same thing.. I want to install my adobe products on my D: drive.. I looked at the environment variables but I guess I'm not sure how to change the Temp folder. Woudl that be by editing the system variables or user variables? Under User variables right now I am seeing a line that reads: "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp". Under the System variables I see a line that reads TEMP  "C:\Windows|TEMP" but if I select it to edit I get "%SystemRoot%\TEMP"  So what should I be doing here?

Changing the Temp folders will not install the Adobe software on a different drive; what software are you trying to install?

OK I found out that there is indeed a preference option in the Adobe Application Manager app that will let you set the path where you want to install your Adobe products. Click on your name and then preferences and there you will see it. I'm not sure about every application but so far I've installed Photoshop & Bridge, After Effects, and Premier Pro and they are installed on my D: drive where I wanted them.

From reviewing this thread I believe the temp directory was changed to allow the temporary files, utilized during the install process, to be stored on an external drive as well.
