Can't open photoshop on mac

New macbook air... and I cannot open photoshop (error message: "You can't open the application Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 beause PowerPC applications are no longer supported").

 

I already tried disabling Rosetta (as outlined here http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/error-powerpc-applications-support ed-photoshop.html) but this didn't help.

 

What can I do?

    Sounds like your applicaiton install is damaged.  You'll probably have to reinstall.

    Uninstalled and reinstalled... but still not working. (In the adobe photoshop cs5.1 folder the icon to start photoshop has a "No" symbol on it [circle with a line through it]).

     

    I think the issue is that apple doesn't recognise the program as being compatible... the link above was to fix this problem for earlier versions of photoshop... maybe I need a different fix for 5.1?

     

    What else can I try?
