I'm currently creating graphics in Photoshop for a video project my shop is working on. The graphic is a industrial looking text-box and for the video we'd like it to look like a projected hologram, with the faint projection path and all. My question is which program would be best to use to create a believable representation of a projected hologram? And does anyone know any good tutorials/tips on how to create the graphic? I work in AVID, I'm not sure if that would affect the graphic or not. Thank you.
After Effects.
You can google hologram tutorials and find some post-Star Wars stuff. The issue is your level of credibility and how hard you must work to sell the effect to yoru audience. If you need to place this effect into a shot that has a moving camera you are in for a bit of a ride.
I created a Star Wars hologram effect for our corporate recruitment video
We used a layering method in Adobe After Effects, and added some audio effects to really sell it.
If you're intererested let me know and I'll let you have the source files so you can recreate the effect.
