Reset or Change Login Name

I would like to change my login name to something other than my computer's name.  That name is not what I would like to appear as my author name for comments.  I've tried reinstalling the program after changing my computer's name, hoping it would change the login name to the new computer name.  That did not work.  Why would a program restrict a user from changing the login name????  I'm very aggravated by this.  Please, can someone help me reset or change my login name???

    Sorry, what program, and what login name?

     

    If you mean the Adobe.com login name, go to http://www.adobe.com/ and click on Sign-in.  Next click on the pull-down on your user name and select My Information; you can change all your details there.

    I'm sorry I didn't specify.  It's for Adobe Reader and in Edit>Preferences>Identity the login name cannot be changed.  Any suggestions on how to reset or change that?

    I see; I have never even looked at that...

     

    On Windows, the editable portion of that is stored in the registry, but not the "Login name" - I do not know where this is coming from.

    I've changed my username in Windows and then tried reinstalling Adobe Reader.  This change did not help, the Reader still had the old Login name. 

     

    I'm sorry but have you looked in Edit>Preferences>Identity?  There is where you will find Login name.  Login name is what I'm having trouble changing.
