Help! Adobe Assistant is not Assisting

Trying to download a trial and the Adobe Assistant seems to be saved on my computer but then does nothing, it won't open and doesn't install anything?

    Ditto. On retry I get error 106 - something about Adobe Assistant already downloading, but it is not.

     

    *** Tried again, but this time pointed the downloader to my "Downloads" folder, rather than the Adobe folder under Program Files. It is now downloading - just not where I wanted to put it. Presumably when I run the extractor it will let me put the executable in the proper location.
