Can I open a CS6 Premiere project in CS5.5?

I am working in CS6 Premiere and am needing to transfer the project files to my partners machine and he is working on CS5.5. His computer says it's unable to open because the project was saved in a newer version. Is there any way to bypass that? His computer has a lot more power than mine and we need that to finish an effects heavy project asap.

Any help out there? Thanks so much!

As far as I know, the answer is no...you can go 5.5 to 6.0 though...but that is of no help to you now.

    Sorry.

This might work, but I haven't tried it:  Export your CS6 project as FCP XML.   Import that into CS5.5.  You may lose some effects, but your EDL and stock transitions should come over fine.

Please let us know if that worked out for you, please.  I may have to resort to that myself, due to some other CS6 issues.

Have your partner upgrade to CS6.  It really is worth it.

Do a little search in this Forum because it was asked before ...and someone advised a way of doing so.

    Recently.

    Thanks everyone!

I did try the FCP XML export and it gave me an error message that I didn't quite understand and wasn't able to find any real help on that. So that method may not be your best bet, Jim Curtis.

Sorry it didn't work for you, but I just tried the method I suggested and it worked perfectly.  The Three-Way-Color effects are different and need readjusting, and my Pr generated titles are missing, but all my layers, audio keyframes and transitions came in perfectly fine.

I tried opening a Premiere Pro CS6 project, with only cuts and dissolves, in Premiere Pro CS5.5 and it DID work for me!

I just tried opening a CS6 project in CS5.5, and got the error dialog mentioned in the OP:

"This project was saved in a newer version of Adobe Premiere Pro and cannot be opened in this version."
