inDesign will not start for me on XP. I've had CS5 for several months but ID has never worked. The error I get says "ModName: support for javascript.rpln". I found this discussion: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3148825 which matches what I'm seeing. The only "fix" offered in there (and everywhere else I've searched) is to create a new Windows account, and indeed that does work. But using a new account is not practical. What I'd like to find is something specific I can fix in my current account, such as a registry edit or deleting some corrupted files or similar.
I have the latest ID (7.5.3) and XP SP3.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks,
Lee
It might not help, but it wouldn't hurt to try trashing your prefs if the problem is restricted to ID. See Replace Your Preferences
Do you have admin privileges on your regualr account? What about in the new account where things worked?
Seems to me I've seen an article or two on how to transfer the HKEY_CURRENT_USER hive from one user to another. I would certainly back up the registry first, probably even image the machine in it's current state, becasue there is a lot that can go wrong with registry editing, and it can render the machine unbootable.
Yes, admin privileges on both accounts. I really do not want to do anything sweeping with the registry or the accounts. What I was hoping to find out is exactly what registry entry(s) is causing the problem with InDesign. I'll bet there are just a few small tweaks to the registry and/or some other files that will fix it.
