For effective HD video editing, a laptop with the following
-at least the Intel sandy bridge 2720 or 2820 quad processor
-and nvidia graphics such as the 460m with 1Gig video ram
-1280x900 display with OpenGL 2.0-compatible graphics card
-and 8 or 16 gig ram and Win7 64bit Pro
-and 2 internal 7200 HDDs minimum
Have a look at the MSI range and ASUS. These laptops will take at least 2 HDDs which will be good for HDV editing. Check out this LINK.
Dell Precision M6700. Though only in Dutch, maybe you can use this page with Google Translate: http://tweakers.net/nieuws/82689/dells-nieuwe-precision-laptop-kan-met -2-komma-75tb-uitgerust-worden.html
Bob,
The M6700 will be the successor of the current M6600. The main advantages are the use of Ivy Bridge over the current SB, 32 GB DDR3-1866 versus DDR3-1333, Gorilla glass over the (IPS) screen, and space for 3 or 4 disks plus a new nVidia K4000 or K5000 video card. However, it is yet unknown when they will arrive as is the price. The M6600 is pretty expensive if you get all the options from Dell. I just had a look and I was already at € 6,850 with the major components, but not yet finished with the complete configuration. If you were to go this route, I would suggest you stick with the default 128 GB SSD and get the rest of your disks elsewhere.
