apply style to selection box grayed out

Jul 8, 2012 1:03 PM

I have a problem with cs5 inDesign PARAGRAPH STYLE OPTIONS menu

I want to define a specific  paragraph style. I type a groupe of words to make paragraph, highlite the paragraph, click on new paragraph in the paragraph styles palette and than right click on paragraph style 1 and choose edit.

In the paragraph styles options menu, when general is highlighted, the Apply style to selection box is grayed out and can not be activated whereas the Preview box is not grayed out and can be activated.

Please help me correct this situation.

Windows 7 Pro 64, although indesign is listed under the 32 bit programmes (?)

Thanks

That’s because it’s already applied to that paragraph.

(2013) I've found that it works if you choose from the drop down menu: “new paragraph style” as opposed to clicking the icon for create new style. I'm having similar problems. Watching a tutorial and following along, and bunch of my stuff is grey!
