Hard disk crash. I am trying to reinstall Audition 1.0 to a WinXP Home on a Netbook. I have a licensed copy of CE2K when I started that was followed up with an upgrade to Audition 1.0 when Adobe bought CE2K. The problem is getting 1.0 installed. I have tried installing CE2K but I am unable to input my CE2K serial number. I got to install Audition 1.0 but despite having a valid serial number for Audition 1.0 the install fails because it cannot find an eligible upgrade product to finish the upgrade. Adobe help can not/will not Help stating Audition 1.0 is no longer supported. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get Audition 1.0 installed?
I think that your problem is only to be solved by getting CE2k to install properly. You may not have remembered, but you can't input the serial number into the CE2k software directly (despite it looking as though you can!) - you need the registration program to do that. IIRC it's called CE2kreg.exe, or something like that anyway. If you don't have that, probably somebody will be able to find a copy of it you can have. All you do then is to run that, enter your serial number, and CE2k will authenticate. At that point, hopefully you'll have a viable product to upgrade from.
SteveG, Thank You for the response. I did eventually found the CE2Kreg.exe in my installed program files backup. It performed just as you have discribed and I was able to register my CE2K and then load my Adobe Audition right from the upgrade CD. It took a bit of doing to recover my most recent audition.ini file with several years worth of customized settings. I can't tell you what a relief it is to have been able to put all those missing pieces back together again.
