Is the curves problem fixed?

Jul 9, 2012 11:50 PM

I abandoned lightroom 4 when the curves problem was identified.

  1. Is the curves problem really fixed in lightroom 4.1?
  2. I have many images that I have modified in lightroom 3.6 with extreme curve adjustments. Will these images import correctly into lightroom 4.1

Yes and yes.  If you're upgrading from a LR3 catalog to an LR4.1 catalog, then it'll upgrade without you ever knowing there was an issue.  If you go back to your 4.0 catalog, then it'll fix them and make some extra collections for you to double check.

    No problem James.

    1.  When you upgrade your LR3.6 catalog, it creates a COPY of the catalog and upgrades that (so your 3.6 catalog is not touched) .  The upgrade does nick the previews, to save doubling them up.

    2.  If you want to continue using 3.6, yes, it'll use different catalogs.  I would query whether you're creating additional work for yourself though!  The LR3 sliders are still available within LR4, if that's your concern.

    3.  To import your LR3 catalog into LR4, just to go File > Open Catalog and it'll ask to upgrade it.
