What is best way to scan magazines?

I have lots of magazines ( sewing, metalsmithing, yoga, etc) with pictures and detailed instructions.  I would like to scan the full issue.  I need help.  What is the best approach for doing this and getting the best results?  I plan to donate the magazines, so it's iimportant I do this correctly.  Suggestions on where to store is also appreciated.

    You're going to hate this, but I don't think you have the right to do that. In some countries you can scan the magazines you own, for your own use, but you must continue to own them. If you give the magazines away, you are not entitled to keep a copy; that's everything copyright law is supposed to prevent.
