Can I pause a download for several hours and restart it?

In theory - yes. Whether this works in practice is not always guaranteed as it will still require you to log in to your account and initiate the download from there so all the authentication info is properly in place. That being said, if you can, just let it run and finish before it may start over completely. Better safe than sorry.
