Cannot delete pages.

With Page Thumbnails panel open, I highlight and press DEL or right-click > Delete Pages, and I get:

 

 

 

"One or more pages are in use and could not be deleted."

 

 

 

They're not in use. I can somtimes close the PDF and reopen, and then delete the pages. But not always.

 

 

 

What's going on here; how do I get around this?

    @Bernd   Windows 7 x64,  Acrobat X Pro

     

     

    @Lisa     Thanks, but I see no reason to install additional software.

    I use this feature once a month to extract / delete some 200 pages from an 800 page file.  I found the release notes for 10.1.4 stated that this issue was fixed.  I updated my Acrobat to the 10.1.4 release and i was still having the problem.  I finally fixed it by disabling the Win XP compatability  feature that i had enabled in the properties of the Acrobat executable.  I had enabled this feature a couple of months ago as a fix to this specific problem, now it's not necessary. 

     

    Environ: Win 7 32-bit and Acrobat X, 10.1.4.

    @ ECT Doreen - thanks for the response but I'm not running Acrobat in any compatability mode. The option is not even "checked" in the executable's properties.

    Sometimes it's a badly constructed or damaged PDF file.  Can you post the file to a website or Acrobat.com?

    Unfortunately, no. I can't post the PDFs in question.

     

    So it could be the file itself, you say. Interesting. I wouldn't be surprised. These particular PDFs are rather old, and comprised of pages from various, other older PDFs - about 44 pages. There are some "problem pages" in the mix.
