Going Live Questions

Hi there, just a couple questions about taking a site live.

We've had a site for many years and I've just redesigned it and want to host it through BC. I have all that taken care of but since it's for our business, I want to change from our current host to BC off-hours so we don't miss any emails from clients and minimize the time our site is down.

So my concerns are:  I assume everything is computerized now so can I change over the DNS settings on a Friday evening or weekend?  Just want to make sure Business Catalyst can do this over the weekend?

Also, in browsing the tutorials, I have come up with 2 different sets of DNS names:  one is ns01.businesscatalyst.com and the other set is ns1.worldsecuresystems.com.  Are they the same?  Should I use one rather than the other?

Thanks so much for any help you can give!

Annette

    Hi Annette,

You'll need to decide who you want to host with and not change afterwards.

So if wanting to host with BC please update the NS records to the ns1, ns2 records found below.

    - http://helpx.adobe.com/content/help/en/business-catalyst/using/change- site-domain.html

The ns01 and ns02.businesscatalyst.com records should not be used.

After your DNS changes provide us the site in question so we can check your set-up.  This should work within minutes after you've updated.  However propagation does vary which we do not control so sometimes it may take longer for the site to fully display once you've updated the DNS for your domain.

    Kind regards,

    -Sidney

Yes...anytime of the day but the weekend or at night is recommended since it's during off-peak times.  Just in case the propagation takes a bit longer if won't affect visitors as much as it would during peak hours.
