I find myself having to transfer a old hi8 tape.
I'll be using SVIDEO out of the deck into my editing system.
Trying to decide if I need SVIDEO to composite cable or SVIDEO to component cable.
Problem is I don't have a svideo in on my system.
I can do composite or component in (with rca cables)
Since I'm coming SVIDEO out with hi8 - do I really get any more quality going with component (3 rca cables) rather than just staying with composite (2 rca cables)?
Thanks - just to make sure I understand correctly - So if I purchase the converter, I just send the SVIDEO cable from the hi8 deck into the converter's SVIDEO input and then take RCA audio cables out of my deck into the converter's audio inputs. Then out of the converter via firewire out and into my editing system (cs5.5)?
I didn't realize you could send hi8 over firewire with a converter.
Yes... read at the http://www.grassvalley.com/products/advc55 link... on the right side is a link to the product manual
The 55 is one way from outside into a computer... the model 110 is 2-way in case you want to play out to a tape deck
