I have an air for android app which needs to play large .m4a (aac) audio files. These are not compatible with the regular AS3 sound class, so I'm importing and playing them through a NetStream object.
So far so good, but there are two problems.
1) The audio quality seems to be affected. There is a hissing or buzzing in the high frequency range.
2) The hit on the CPU is up around 15% which is going to be a big problem on a mobile device. (The same file played by other apps on the same device is around 0.6%)
Anyone have any experience with this or ideas on how the NetStream object might be optimized for audio playback? The files are local to the device so I don't need to worry about streaming or buffering.
