Is there any way I can create within my InDesign CS4 document master page, the page number to show "Page 1 of 10" for example. All I can do so far is to create individual page numbers, i.e. "Page 1", "Page 2", etc.
I'm unable to determine if I can show the number of pages in the document as part of the page number, e.g. for a 25 page document, I'd like to show... "Page 4 of 25", "Page 17 of 25", etc.
Any help would be appreciated.
Yes , you can let say you want Page "x" of "y" , where "x" is the current page and "y" is the total number of pages.
Insert a Current Page Number marker for "x", and insert the Last Page Number text variable for "y" (choose Type > Text Variables > Insert Variable > Last Page Number).
This worked perfectly, thank you
Only thing I had to do was create a "Last Page Number" text variable first (hadn't had any up to that point) and I could then insert the last page number. Compiled PDF now shows page 1 to 24, 2 to 24, etc.
Many thanks for your swift reply.
Perhaps this may be part ot the problem:
