can I cut and paste word documents in adobe reader x

    No. Reader will not open Word documents. Reader only opens pdf files.

    PDF files are not meant to be edited. Adobe Acrobat offers limited editing capacities for them; the free Reader has none. More clearly: you cannot paste anything in a PDF file using just the free Reader.

    Using the sign tool - you can add text to a pdf file in Reader X.  It is a very limited tool not intended for what you're asking to do - but it'll work for simple tasks.

    Am I the only one to understand that the OP is asking if he can copy from a Word document and paste to a PDF file? Or it's me who isn't understanding the original question?

    OP, I believe, is asking if text cut from a Word document can be pasted in a PDF using ReaderX.  This can be done to a limited degree by using the Sign tool- add signature - add text.   Otherwise - need to go to the Standard version.
