Cross Platform Work Flow Solution Needed

Jul 20, 2012 8:34 AM

Hello,

I’m currently exploring methods on how windows and mac can share a single project file and all related resources from a network HD.

We just made the transition from Final Cut six months ago and trying to figure out an effective way for are mac which captures and edits all of our video, and windows that creates all of our graphics to happily work from the same file without getting errors or media offline has been difficult.

Any advice or methods would be greatly appreciated.

PR is not network friendly and network drives are too slow for editing. You have to use local drives only, so effectively duplicate them on both platforms. Still it is going to be a real hassle to edit a project with multiple people and that is aggravated by using multiple platforms.

Why not take the graphic files to the Mac as assets?  (via a NAS maybe)

Why not consolidate your hardware and go one way or the other?

Why make life so difficult for yourself?
