PNGs in Adobe Digital Editions

Jul 21, 2012 3:11 PM

I have recently published an ebook in .epub format which contains a lot of tables which were imported from Excel and converted to 16-color grayscale .png files to keep the size down.

When I view the tables with Calibre, the results aren't too bad at all - a little fuzzy around the edges - but perfectly legible.  However, when I try and view the same .epub under Adobe Digital Editions, the results are horrribly blurred and totally unreadable.

Here is how it looks on Calibre:

And on ADE:

Does anyone have any idea as to why there is such a difference?  Is there anything I can do to make it display better on ADE?  Would increasing the resolution help?  Or using .gifs instead?

Many thanks for your help with this.
