What is the situation with Encore-Multi Movie Timelines and Stop Marker equivalents?

I am strickly a Premiere Elements Windows user who long ago discovered that Premiere Elements (any version) does not recognize the Timeline Stop Markers in the play back of its burn to Blu-ray product. Others have reported the same. I have yet to find a user who reports "can do" in this regard.

 

One workaround might be to export the Premiere Elements Timeline to file and then import that file into another program for menu creation and authoring. I have seen one online Encore video tutorial where "Stop Action" and "Play All" maneuvers seem to address this menu plan for DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc.

 

The specific question Is: Is "Stop Action" the Encore equivalent of Premiere Elements' Stop Markers?

 

The overall question is:

Can Encore be used to create a menu plan where

1.

a. Main Menu has buttons for more than one movie (Chapter Markers)

and

b. Selecting one of those movies (buttons), allows the user to play that movie from start to its finish, followed immediately by a return to the main menu

and

c. After the viewer selects one of the movies, the viewer has the option to watch that movie from start to finish or go to specific scenes in that movie. In the case of Premiere Elements and the multi movie Timeline, each movie cannot have its own scene selection page.

 

Any insights into Encore possible use in creating menus for multi movie Timelines for burn to Blu-ray would be appreciated.

    The main methods are:

     

    Export movies from the editing program (e.g. Premiere or PE) in chapter length. An Encore timline is made for each movie. Each Chapter button links to one of those movies.

     

    You create a playlist (with this chapter timelines in it), and the "play all" button links to that play all playlist.

     

    Or, you export one video from PR/PE with chapter markers. You create a chapter playlist (not a playlist) that contains one chapter per playlist. The chapter button links to one of those chpater play lists. The play all button links to the main timeline.

     

    As of CS6, Encore can do a Bluray chapter playlist.

    Welcome over here!

     

    Not sure about the term, "Stop Action" in Encore. However, and as Stanley points out, all that you wish to do can be done in Encore, and easily.

     

    Depending on the navigation that you will ultimately desire, you might want to use multiple Timelines, which can BE "chapters" themselves, or can HAVE Chapters in them. With the use of Playlists (working on the Timeline level), you can set the navigation as needed, and if you need finer control, then can use Chapter Playlists (similar, but different), also.

     

    To get from PrElements, you would want to use one of two workflows:

     

    1. Export/Share your PrE Timeline(s) as DV-AVI, to be Imported into Encore as Timelines.
    2. Export/Share your PrE Timeline(s) as MPEG-2 DVD, with a Bit-Rate, that will allow for the total Duration of your Timeline(s), allowance for Menus and navigation vs the size of disc chosen, DVD-5, or DVD-9. A Bit-Rate calculator would be useful for this purpose.

    While one can gang Assets, like DV-AVI's onto a single Timeline, there can be issues with that, and I prefer to create separate Timelines for each.

    Thanks for your replies. The information provided will be very helpful in trying to reconcile my experiences with Premiere Elements disc menus with the disc menus opportunities in Encore.
