Ai file blank when opening in PS

I can't seem to figure out why the illustrator file opens blank if photoshop. I tried converting to EPS and PDF and even Ai CS3 but the file is opening blank.  The pdf file also saved as blank document. 

Any ideas why?

    Ribik,

     

     

    Have you tried resetting your Illustrator preferences? Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS) as you start Illustrator.

     

    When you click look in the File menu, is the Print option grayed out?

    Tried doesnt work. Print is not greyed out.  I'm using CS6 by the way.

    Okay, in your Illustrator document go to your layers panel and in the flyout menu, choose Options for "Layer 1" (or whatever layer your artwork is located on).

    When you click that, is the option for Print checked or unchecked?

    holy smokes, how did it get unchecked, and why in the world we need it unchecked?
