Once importing a script, how do I tag it properly so I can import it to Premiere Pro CS6 for speech

Hey All!

 

I have a really long script around 2 hours long. I wanted to get the speech to text working in Premiere Pro CS6 so I can skip to the right places in my video to add titles quickly. I've already imported the script into Adobe Story but I can't figure out how to tag this properly so I can reap the benefits of the search. I want it to know who my characters are and have it formated properly in Adobe Story before analyzing the clips.

 

In Premiere, when I click to add the script, I can select the script file but when I hit ok, there is nothing in the box as you can see below. I don't think it's reading my script properly because it's not tagged or formatted right. (I might be using the wrong terminology because I just started using Adobe story) When I click on this window below, it defaults back to NONE for the attached script.

This is what my script looks like in Adobe Story, I feel like there should be tags to show who characters are and headings but when I select the text and click those options, nothing happens. I know I'm missing something and I can't figure it out. Please help! It's driving me crazy, I've been looking for the answer and messing around with it but to no avail.

Before I go through all of this... I see you can click a word in PP and it puts the play head to the right spot in the source monitor. Since I have multiple video files and multiple takes of the same script, is there a way that I can only analize the clips I used on the timeline? I wanted that so I know when I search for the word, it will move the playhead to the point on the timeline that it is used. This will speed up my editing by 1000% and put a smile on my face. If you need more clarification, please ask me. I looked all over the web and Adobe tutorials for this answer and couldn't find it. I hope I can get to the bottom of it. Thanks!

    Hi Rob,

    From the screen shots it looks like your script is not formatted properly (you may refer to 'Paladin Script' in 'Sample Project' to get an idea of how the script should be formatted.).

    Further please follow the steps mentioned below to use Story to PP workflow.

    1. Create a new Film script in Adobe Story
    2. Create  scene heading – INT. LOCATION – Day (these will show up in the outline view panel on left hand side)
    3. Hit enter, hit TAB
    4. Enter the name of the speaker, hit TAB or ENTER
    5. Copy over the transcribed text
    6. Build your script this way
    7. Number scenes from the production menu
    8. Export ASTX file for your script : File->Export->.astx
    9. Open Premiere Pro
    10. Create a new project, bring in media
    11. In the project pane, find the "Scene" column
    12. For the clip that contains the spoken text, assign the same scene number to the clip as you have in the story script (lets say both are scene 1)
    13. Click out of the scene box in the project panel in Ppro
    14. Right click on the scene that you just assigned a scene number to and select – attach Story script
    15. Select the .astx fle you exported in step 8
    16. Click ok
    17. You should now see the script data in the metadata panel for the clip in the metadata panel.
    18. You can now run speech to text based on "Embedded Script metadata" to time align spoken word to the script.
